I spent 20 years leading global teams at Cisco Systems. I realized our leaders needed more support and guidance to maximize their own effectiveness and draw out the strengths of their team members, which led me to Cisco’s HR organization. I spent several years as the Americas lead for Leadership Development. My team was responsible for developing leadership training offerings, based on quantitative and qualitative survey analyses. During my tenure in this role, Cisco moved away from the annual performance review cycle to a more agile check-in process. We also saw a need for individualized coaching for leaders, and career guidance for employees. My passion became helping my employees identify personal strengths to create meaningful career and life paths. Today, I work with leaders at every level to help them clearly identify and achieve career goals that align with their strengths and values.
Assisting leaders as they make the change from an annual performance review cycle to a weekly check-in process. Training and empowering leaders to embrace a less formal performance conversation style helped increase the employee engagement at every level. I am most proud of creating an internal career guidance center for the company. We blended the existing executive coaching program with a newly-created internal coaching and advising arm, through which we were able to support thousands of employees and leaders in their development.
